Types of visa
- D4 (Language school student visa): The student who receives an admission letter from an
   accredited Korean language school can apply for a D4 visa. The time period from the visa
   issuance date to visa expiration date is as same as the time period allocated by the Educational
   Center for Korean as a Foreign Language when registering.
- D2 (International student visa) The undergraduate or graduate student who has been accepted to
   Sunchon National University can apply for a D2 visa. The international student must renew the visa
   once a year.
- D3 (Tourist visa): The international student who has a D3 visa and receives an admission letter from
   an accredited Korean language school or a university can change the visa type either to D4 or D2.
 
Visa Extension
- The D4 or D2 visa student must go to the Korea Immigration Service and apply for a visa
   renewalbefore his or visa is expired.
- Documents to submit: a school transcript, a notarized statement that the student has been studying
   in the university or the language school, a statement notarized by the registrar's office that the
   student has paid the tuition fees, a bank statement that indicates the student's account balance, an
   alien registration card, passport, application form and application fee 30.000 Won.
 
Change of Visa Type
- If the status of the international student residing in South Korea has changed, he or she has to
   change the visa type.
- Documents to submit: an admission letter, a statement notarized by the registrar's office that the
   student has paid the tuition fees, a bank statement that indicates the student's account balance,
   an alien registration card, passport, application form, application fee 50.000 Won, and a certificate
   or diploma notarized by the college or university the student last attended.
 
Alien Registration Card
- The international student must apply for an alien registration card within 90 days after the entry to
   South Korea.
- Documents to submit : an admission letter, a statement notarized by the registrar's office that the
   student has been studying in the university or the Koran language school, passport, 3 passport-
   sized photographs, application form, and application fee 10.000 Won.
* If the international student loses the alien registration card, report immediately to a police station
   and ask for a notarized statement that he or she has lost the alien registration card. In order to
   apply for a new alien registration card, the student must submit a statement notarized by the police
   that he or she has lost his or her alien registration card, a statement notarized by the registrar's
   office that the student has been studying in the university or the Koran language school, passport,
   3 passport-sized photos, and application fee 10,000 Won to the Korea Immigration Service.
* The International Center does all the visa-related works for the D4 or D2 visa students.
 
Ectension of passport validity
- The international student whose passport is soon to be expired must visit the Embassy of the
   student's country and apply for a passport extension or a passport renewal.
 
Full-time or part-time Employment
- The D 2 visa student that has been studying for more than 6 months can apply for a work permit.
- Legitimate and illegitimate Jobs: any line of work that is related to the student's academic fields,
   translation jobs or interpreting work, and restaurant related jobs
   (*Working at decadent entertainment or gambling industries and tutoring are not permitted)
- Documents to submit: a recommendation letter from one of the student's professors, a statement
   notarized by the employer that indicates the student has been hired, passport, an alien registration
   card, a work permit application form, and application fee 30.000 Won.
